Welcome — I’m Kris, and I created Economic Simplicity to make money make sense.

At Economic Simplicity, we believe that financial confidence starts with understanding, and too many people were never taught how money really works. Whether you’re unsure how credit works, what investing even is, or why the Fed is always trending — you’re in the right place. We explain the basics in simple terms, with no shame and no jargon.

My journey with money began early — I started in mortgage banking at 20 and quickly developed a passion for helping first-time homebuyers take control of their finances. Coming from poverty, I knew the stress that comes from not understanding money — and the freedom that comes from learning it.

Over time, my husband and I chose to live differently — within our means, against the grain. People thought we were weird. But now, years later, that “weird” approach gave us freedom. Our kids grew up understanding concepts like compound interest and net worth from a young age — and as they grew, their friends started coming to us with their money questions. That’s when we realized: this work matters.

We believe that financial education changes families — not just bank accounts. It’s not about sounding smart or acting rich. It’s about being free to build the life you want.
